چکیده

This paper proposes a de-embedding method for on-chip S-parameter measurements at mm-wave frequency. The proposed method uses only two transmission lines with different length. In the proposed method, a parasitic-component model extracted from two transmission lines can be used for de-embedding for other-type DUTs like transistor, capacitor, inductor, etc. The experimental results show that the error in characteristic impedance between the different-length transmission lines is less than 0.7% above 40 GHz. The extracted pad model is also shown. key words: de-embedding, S-parameter measurement, mm-wave, RF CMOS, transmission line

Evaluation of a Multi-Line De-Embedding Technique up to 110 GHz for Millimeter-Wave CMOS Circuit Design

An L-2L through-line de-embedding method has been verified up to millimeter wave frequency. The parasitics of the pad can be modeled from the L-2L through-line. Measurement results of the transmission lines and transistors can be de-embedded by subtracting the parasitic matrix of the pad. Therefore, the de-embedding patterns, which is used for modeling active and passive devices, decrease great...

Spice Compatible Model for Multiple Coupled Nonuniform Transmission Lines Application in Transient Analysis of VLSI Circuits

An SPICE compatible model for multiple coupled nonuniform lossless transmission lines (TL's) is presented. The method of the modeling is based on the steplines approximation of the nonuniform TLs and quasi-TEM assumptions. Using steplines approximation the system of coupled nonuniform TLs is subdivided into arbitrary large number of coupled uniform lines (steplines) with different characteristi...

On the Variations of Shunt Characterization Technique of Decoupling Transmission Line for Millimeter-Wave CMOS Applications

Abstract Decoupling transmission line (TL) is a low characteristic impedance TL that is used for isolating DC and RF signals in millimeter-wave CMOS circuits. Low characteristic impedance makes the direct measurements difficult for characterization. A shunt characterization method is presented for the characterization. In this method, the S-parameters are calculated directly. Nevertheless, the ...

A simple de-embeding method for on-wafer RF CMOS FET using two microstrip lines

This letter deals with the de-embedding of on-wafer CMOS FETs embedded in symmetrical and reciprocals pads. A de-embedding method, that uses a calibrated vector network analyzer and two microstrip lines fabricated on a lossy SiO2-Si substrate, is introduced. The proposed method not only allows the characterization on the interconnection lines but also allows the characterization of the CMOS pad...
